GREENWICH FBLA CHAPTER ATTENDS District Five Fall District Meeting

The Greenwich Chapter of FBLA had the pleasure of attending the 2023 District Five Fall District Meeting. 10 GCS JSHS students traveled to the Lake George Holiday Inn to participate in the meeting. The meeting was hosted by the Lake George Chapter and Role Call included 3 chapters and over 75 students from around the region, including Lake George, Greenwich, and Peru.

The meeting opened and then the students walked to the new Boats by George Warehouse.  The new facility is the largest indoor boat showroom in New York State.  Our meeting Keynote Speaker; Adam Pensel, General Manager of Boats by George, took the students through the history of the family business and how they came to open the new facility to expand their business.  The students had some amazing questions for Adam and his business.  Adam also talked about his FBLA experience and how it has helped him along the way. Afterwards the students were allowed to browse the indoor facility and all the boats.

Upon returning to the Holiday Inn students worked on basic FBLA 101 knowledge along with a Get to know you Bingo game.  The students also had team building activity in different groups on building the biggest tower with only the materials given.

During the meeting, students discussed plans and opportunities for the Spring District Meeting, the State Leadership Conference and the National Leadership Conference. Students that have attended in the past talked about what it was like to attend these events.

FBLA is an education association with a quarter million students preparing for careers in business and business-related fields. FBLA is the largest business career student organization in the world. The Greenwich Chapter is advised by Christine Belden - if you have a student in grades 7 - 12 that would like to join they should contact her at the school. The Greenwich Chapter participates in the Chamber Halloween Parade, the Lighted Tractor Parade, Breakfast with Santa, Operation Rudolph, and the Whipple City Festival locally for community service and we compete in local, regional and state competitions and national conferences as well as numerous fundraisers to support our endeavors.
