When you begin, click on View...Toolbars. Be sure that the Standard, Formatting and Pictures toolbars are available (checked).
Creating a new document - You can create a new file in many ways:
  • Click on File…then New. –or-
  • Click the New File icon
Saving a document – Pay attention to where you are saving your document!
  • Click on File, then Save.
  • In the Save As window, navigate to your folder.
  • If necessary, create a new folder for your work. (See below) This helps to organize your work and makes finding files easier
  • Name your file in a simple, clear manner. Suggestion: all lower-case letters…no spaces.
  • Click Save.
Creating a new folder for your saved work
  1. Click on File, then Save As.
  2. In the Save As window, click on the Create new folder icon.

3. In the new window, name your folder. Again, keep it simple.
4. Click OK.
5. Name your file. Then click OK
