There are 2 basic methods of inserting a table in a Word document:
1. Using the Menu bar:    
 
  1. In the Menu bar click on Table…Insert…Table.
  2. In the Insert Table window select the number of columns and rows you need (you can add/delete columns and rows later, if necessary)

 

2. Using the Standard Formatting Bar:
 
  1. Click on the Draw Table tool.
  2. Drag the mouse along the grid until the number of columns and rows you need are selected.

Tables and Borders Toolbar

Access the this toolbar by clicking on View…Toolbars…Tables and Borders

First, you must select the cell(s) to be changed.
Then click on the tool necessary to make the change.

Adding Rows
  1. Decide where you’d like to add/delete a row.
  2. Click into an adjacent row.
  3. In the Menu bar click on Table…Insert…Rows Above or Below (whichever is appropriate)
Adding Columns
  1. Decide where you need to add a column.
  2. Click into an adjacent column.
  3. In the Menu bar click on Table…Insert…Columns to the left or right (whichever is appropriate)
Moving Around In a Table
  • Use the TAB key to move the cursor from one cell to another. OR
  • Use the arrows keys
Moving a Table - When you place the mouse on a table the moving arrow appears in the top-left corner.
  1. Simply hold the mouse button down and drag the table to a new location.
  2. Release the mouse button.
Resizing a Table - When you place the mouse on the table a white resizing box appears in the lower-right corner.
  1. Hold the mouse button down on this white corner and drag the table to re-size it.
  2. Release the mouse button.
Sorting Lists
  1. Select the list or table to be sorted.
  2. Click on Table, then Sort.
  3. Choose the sorting method you’d like to use.
