Formatting text - Changing font/color /size

 
 

Toolbars: Commonly used toolbars are: Standard, Drawing & Formatting.
  • In the View menu, select Toolbars.
  • Toolbars with a check are presently on the screen..
  • If a necessary toolbar does not have a check, click it to make it visible.

To add a new slide
  • On the Insert menu, click New Slide
  • In the new window, select the type of slide you need
  • Click OK.
To insert text
  • In the Drawing toolbar, select the Text Box tool
  • On the slide, click and drag a text box.
  • Type the text you need.

Formatting Text

Once you have highlighted (selected) text, you can format it in either of two ways:

  • In the Standard menu bar, click on Format...Font. Experiment using various combinations of styles and color. then click OK.
  • Use a combination of the Drawing toolbar (above) and the Formatting toolbar (below)
Selecting a font and size
  • Select the text you want to format
  • In the Formatting toolbar, click the drop-down arrow in Font Tool.
  • Select the font you want.
  • In the formatting toolbar, click the drop-down arrow for Font Size.
  • Select the size you want.
To Change Font Color
  • Font color can be selected in one of two locations: The Drawing toolbar and Format menu....Font.
    Locate the Font Color tool. Click the drop-down arrow.
To format the background
  • In the Standard toolbar, click Format...Background.
  • In the Background window, click the drop-down arrow. Select either More Colors or Fill Effects.
  • In More Colors, I suggest using the tab called “Basic Colors”.
    • Select a color. Click OK.
  • Click Apply for the effect to change on one slide or
  • Click Apply to All to change the color on all slides.
  • As you gain confidence, experiment with the Custom Tab. When you decide on a color here, jot down the R-G-B values for later use.
  • In Fill Effects, there is more opportunity for individuality.
  • Select either the Gradient, Texture, or Pattern.
  • Experiment with different choices until you find the best!

To create/modify Slide Transitions
  • In the Slideshow menu, click on Slide Transition.
  • The Slide Transition window will appear on the right.

 

  • Click on each transition style to see a preview.

 

 

 

 

 

  • Modify the speed of the transition if necessary.

 

 

  • Select “On Mouse click” or "automatically". If you'll be speaking to a group, using "on mouse click" gives you control on the timing of each slide. If this will be running in a kiosk-type setting, "automatically" is the way to go.
  • Click Apply to All to change the transition on all slides.
  • Click "Play" to view your changes.
  • Click "Slide Show" to view the entire show.

 

Views
  • Slide Sorter View – click here to re-arrange the order of your slides.
  • Slide Show View– click here to see your Slideshow.
  • Normal view- click here to view one slid at a time.
Insert Clipart
  • From the Insert menu, click on Picture, then Clipart.
  • From the Insert menu, click on Picture, then From File.
    • Navigate to the location of the picture.
    • Click Insert (or OK)

Animating slides - Use these carefully. Do not overwhelm your viewer!
  • In the SlideShow menu, click on Animation Schemes
  • Experiment with animations until you find the one you want.

 

 

 

 

  • Be aware of your audience when applying the different animations: Subtle, Moderate and Exciting.

 

 

 

 

 

 

  • Click Apply to All to change the animations on all slides.
  • Click "Play" to view your changes.
  • Click "Slide Show" to view the entire show.
