“Every student in the nation
should have an education in the arts.” This is the opening statement of
“The Value and Quality of Arts Education: A Statement of Principles,”
a document from the nation’s ten most important educational
organizations, including the American Association of School
Administrators, the National Education Association, the National Parent
Teacher Association, and the National School Boards Association
department provides each student with an opportunity to experience,
create, develop and apply skills for self-expression, by performing in
vocal, classroom, and instrumental music.
Music provides opportunities for
the development of the artistic talents of the
student, including positive self-image, self-discipline, and positive
group interaction. The school music
program exists to inform, challenge, enhance and provide
meaningful musical experiences, so that students can form a
life long relationship with music.
