WHY BAND?

Most parents want their children to do well in school, to make friends and to enjoy the richness of life. This is where band come in. While much of education is impressionistic, music is expressionistic. It is not a mere repetition of suggested data, but rather a chance to create, express and contribute to the overall final performance. It allows the musician to bring something to the art form.

Band is a place for everyone. Rarely is a person serving as an alternate or substitute. Everyone in the band plays a starting role. The performer understands that they matter. They have value and have creative potential.

 Band is preparation for life.  Through the discipline of music, we are developing a consistent understanding between the intellectual (cognitive) and emotional (affective) thought processes. Band allows the person to create formulas that are directly transferable to other facets of life.
