Rehearsal Criteria (daily grade)
At each rehearsal, our goals are to mature musically as individuals and to improve together as an ensemble. Rehearsal time cannot be wasted. In order to achieve these goals, each student is expected to:
ü Be on time, preferably early, for each rehearsal
ü Be prepared with appropriate materials (sharpened pencil, assigned music)
ü Be attentive and demonstrate appropriate classroom participation
Performance Criteria (grade for each required performance)
It is extremely important that chorus students participate in each performance. Students are not excused from a performance due to jobs, sporting events, or other non-school events. An emergency absence must be reported with a note or phone call by a parent prior to the performance. If a student fails to attend any required performance, an assignment can be given to compensate for the missing grade. Public performances serve as a final test of class preparation and are therefore required.
ü Be on time, preferably early, for performance warm-up
ü Be prepared with appropriate materials
ü Dress in required concert attire
ü Be attentive and contribute to a positive performance
Singing Tests and Written Work
Not only will students become better vocalists in this class, but students will also become better musicians. Basic theory and sight singing will be covered, and students will periodically be tested on their acquired knowledge.
