Children arrive at 8:08am and begin to dismiss at 2:25 pm. If there is a change in plans with either of these, please contact the school with a note or phone call.

Students have a blue take home folder. One side of the folder  is marked “Stay Home” and the other side is marked “Bring Back.” The children will sort papers in to their folders daily. Please be sure to empty it and return items as required. The children will have a homework sheet filled out for each day of the week. 

Homework is given Monday through Thursday. It includes reading 15 minutes each night, a math sheet and a spelling sheet. The specific assignment will be listed in the blue homework folder. 

There is time for snack each day in the morning. Please send your child with a healthy choice.

We do celebrate birthdays in the classroom. You may either send in items for the class in the morning with your child or drop them off in the office. We usually celebrate birthdays after lunch. 

Supply lists for our room may be found on our grade level website. Please check with your child periodically throughout the year to replenish these items, particularly in January. 

We have recess every day before lunch. We also have a rotating recess  every Wednesday. Children must be dressed appropriately.  In the winter months, the temperature with wind chill must be 20 or higher. Children are expected to have a warm coat, snow pants, hats, mittens/gloves and boots to participate in outdoor play during the winter. Due to mud in the spring, boots may be expected longer.

Report cards go home quarterly in second grade. The children are given numerical grades in spelling, math and reading. Supplementals are also sent home mid-quarter. These are less formal evaluations to indicate areas of concern the teacher may have.
