We begin the school year
with a Science related theme—Plants. We read Miss Rumphius,
From Seed
to Plant, The Meat-Eating Plants Next Door, The Great
Kapok Tree, and others.

WRITING |
We keep journals and learn
to write book reviews and how-to paragraphs. |

MATH |
Our Math program begins with
a review of basic addition and subtraction facts. We are
learning about equations, properties, and problem solving. |

SCIENCE |
Plants life cycles,
structure, and the environment are our focus. For enrichment we
will learn about rainforests. |
SOCIAL
STUDIES |
Geography is our first
topic. We are learning about maps, landforms, and continents. |

HEALTH |
Emotional health is the
topic of our current Health unit. In October we do a unit on safety
beginning with fire safety prevention. The local fire
departments come into our school to teach a lesson to our class. |
