1.  Select a mystery chapter book to read at home during October.

2. Create a book review to "sell" your book to others.

3. Collect your materials:

• lined paper for your draft;

• special paper for your final copy that your teacher will give you;

• a ruler;

• a book review rubric;

• plain, unlined white paper for your original illustration;

• pencils, markers, crayons, paint or any medium; and

• any other material to make your illustration interesting and creative.

4. Write your book review draft after reading your book.

5. Use the rubric to revise and improve your draft.

6.  Draw a half-inch margin with the ruler on the right side of your final copy paper.

7.   Write your final copy on the special paper that your teacher gave you. 

8.  Draw an original illustration of your favorite part of the book on the unlined paper.

9.  Write your name lightly on the back of the illustration. Do not staple.
