1. Select a fiction chapter book with an important main character.
2. Read the book for homework in December.
3. Complete the graphic aid--character web. a) Write the main character's name in the center circle. b) Write three character traits in the rectangles. c) Give examples from the book that tell why you picked the traits to describe your main character. Write in the circles.
4. Write a character sketch of the main character. Use the graphic aid (notes) to write a paragraph for each character trait. Use lined paper and print neatly. Be sure to title your writing. Do not use a heading.
5. Draw a colorful picture of your character on unlined paper. See the teacher if you need a piece of plain white paper. You may use any medium--colored pencils, crayons, markers, paint, etc. Be creative!
6. Paper clip the three pieces (character sketch writing, graphic aid character web, and illustration) of this assignment together. Do not staple them together. |
