1. Select a chapter book to read at home during September.

2. Create a book banner to advertise your book.

3. Collect your materials:

·   2 sheets of construction paper of contrasting colors;

·   a piece of string or yarn approximately 30 inches long;

·   a ruler;

·   pencils, markers, crayons, paint or any medium; and

·   any other material to make your banner interesting and creative.

4. Use one piece of 12 X 18 inch paper for the main part of the banner.

5. Leave one inch at the top and bottom for the frame.
 

6. Set up you banner like this

7.  Draw lines with the ruler.

8. Label the title and author.

9. Illustrate and color.

10. Make the frames for the top and bottom. Take one piece of 9 X 12 inch paper and cut it into 2 pieces 4 1/2  X 12 in. long.  Fold each piece twice the long way.

11. Place string inside the fold of the top frame. Staple the top and bottom frames over the edges with the folded edge on the front of the banner.

12. Finish decorating your banner.

13. Write your name on the back of the banner.
