 Reglas de la clase:

  1. BE PROMPT

Have your ring binder open and your homework out when the bell rings.  If you are going to be late to class, you will need to present a signed pass.  Consistent lateness will result in after-school detention to make up work missed in class.

  1. BE PREPARED

Being organized will help you to develop good study skills and get better grades.  To do so, you will need a 1” heavy duty ring binder with dividers to organize the following classwork:

·        Apuntes – notes – this includes anything written on the board or overhead

·        Hojas de papel – worksheets – add the date and keep in order; the handouts are important study tools for quizzes, tests, projects, and exams

·        Tarea – homework – label with the date, book section, and page number.  Homework submitted on time will receive 100% credit; homework submitted the next class day will receive 50% credit

·        Pruebas / examencitos y exámenes – quizzes and tests – you will be quizzed about once a week on vocabulary and verb forms and tested on sections of the textbook about every two weeks.  Tests will be announced at least two days in advance.  If you are absent, plan to make up the quiz or test on the day that you return.

·        Proyectos y composiciones  –  projects and compositions including information sheets.  Work turned in late will lose ten points for each day that I don’t have it.

You will also need:

·        Bolígrafos y lápices – pens and pencils

·        Libro de texto – textbook – this needs to be covered at all times

·        Pasaporte de participación – participation passport – you will need to purchase a small blue notebook to be turned in throughout the year for a participation grade.  Do not lose this!

  1. BE POLITE

Show respect for everyone in the class.  This includes the use of proper language and conduct in the classroom.  Learning a language can be difficult, and everyone may have difficulty from time to time.  However, we learn better when we feel comfortable in the classroom, so we should never laugh at the mistakes of others.

  1. PARTICIPATE

Because verbal proficiency is such an important part of learning a language, a substantial portion of your grade is based on your active participation in the target language: Spanish.  You will need to receive daily stamps in your pasaporte de participación.  To earn a high grade and bonus points,

·        Speak Spanish.  ¡No inglés, por favor!

·        Volunteer often (don’t worry if it’s not perfect)

·        Be enthusiastic and have a positive attitude

·        Work cooperatively and stay on task when with partners and in groups

¡BUENA SUERTE!
