Week of April 19th - 23rd
Greenwich Wins Fourth
Match of the Week
(4/23/10)
Greenwich finished off the week winning its
fourth match in 5 days. Greenwich defeated
Argyle 6-1 to improve to a league best 7-0 with
3 matches left. All the singles players
continued their winning ways, but Argyle was
able to steal 1st doubles 10-8 for their one
win. Greenwich will look to wrap up the league
next week and look to become league champs for
the second time in three seasons.
Greenwich Tops the Horses
for Sole Possession of 1st! (4/22/10)
Tonight's match lived up to the billing as the 2
undefeated teams in the league fought for 1st
place. Greenwich started by winning the first 3
singles spots before losing the #5 singles to
Schuylerville. Ethan Oswald and Tyler Sheldon
continued their dominance on the season by
winning 10-4 and 10-1 respectively over two of the top
players in the league today.
Greenwich would have a chance to win the match
with the second doubles team, but they would
lose in tie break. Greenwich would get the
deciding point from Jordan James at the #4
singles position when he held off a charging
Hathaway and won 10-6. Both Jordan James and
Josh Cohen-Peyton played their best matches of
the season.
The final game of the night would see
Greenwich's first doubles team lose in tie break
as well. Greenwich all but shored up a share of
the league title tonight by beating
Schuylerville. Greenwich will play Granville on
Monday in what should be the deciding match for
the league championship.
Greenwich Drops Whitehall
7-0 (4/21/10)
In a match that was
shortened by the rain,
Greenwich was able to grab
the four wins it needed
early. All matches would be
completed except the fifth
singles which only played to
8. Ethan Oswald and Tyler
Sheldon both blanked their
opponents while Jordan James
and Josh Cohen-Peyton both
held off their opponents
10-6. Both doubles teams
cruised to victory as well.
Greenwich Blanks Corinth
in the Singles (4/19/10)
Greenwich defeated Corinth on Tuesday, sweeping
the singles positions and second doubles. Ethan
Oswald, Tyler Sheldon, and the second doubles
team of Eamon Bulger and Cameron Cox all
remained undefeated on the season. Ethan Oswald
improved to 40-2 in game score over his
opponents so far this year. Greenwich plays 3
more matches this week with the biggest match
coming on Thursday at home vs undefeated and
current league champion Schuylerville.
Week of April 12th - 16th
Cox and Bulger Clinch Win
for Witches!
(4/12/10)
With a tied game that came down to the number 2
doubles, Cameron Cox and Eamon Bulger were
victorious for Greenwich in their 10-4 win over
Lake George's Kevin Hooey and Kaitlin Dunn.
Ethan Oswald and Tyler Sheldon secured the first
two singles matches, but Lake George would claim
the 3rd and 4th singles. Andrew Horning would
win at the 5 spot and Lake George would take 1st
doubles.
Lake George is one of three teams that the
Witches will need to beat this year to be
crowned league champs. The other two top teams
are Schuylerville and Granville.
Witches Top Johnsburg, Improve to 2-0
(4/12/10)
Greenwich defeated Johnsburg today by a score of
7-0. The Witches improve to 2-0 and are off to a
good start. Top singles players, Ethan Oswald
and Tyler Sheldon, came away with impressive
wins of 10-0 each. Kyle Kerega improves to 2-0
at the #5 spot and Pete Hayes picks up his first
victory playing 1st doubles. Congrats to all the
players on the shutout.
Week of March 29th - April
2nd
Witches Start Season
with a Clean Sweep of North Warren
Greenwich started off the 2010 season with a
clean sweep of North Warren on Wednesday,
beating them 7-0. Led by Ethan Oswald and Tyler
Sheldon, the Witches continue their strong play
from last year and look to contend for the top
of the league.

March 29th
Today's match vs Lake George has been postponed
and will be played on Thursday, April 15.
Friday, February 26th
Any student interested in
playing Tennis needs to see the Nurse. All
students must have had a physical exam within
the last year and must fill in a 30 day update.
Thursday, February 25th

Boys Tennis Meeting in Mr. Aierstok's room on
Thursday at 2:30!

Witches Compete in Individual Sectionals
(5/19/09)
Schenectady -
Ethan Oswald, Andrew Christy, and Aaron Schips
competed in the Section II individual state
qualifiers on Tuesday at Central Park in
Schenectady. Ethan Oswald, the #8 seed, got off
to a slow start and was never able to overcome
it. Oswald was defeated by a score of 10-5.
Andrew Christy and Aaron Schips got off to a
good start winning their opening round game by a
score of 10-5 before losing to the #1 and #3
singles players from Saratoga. Congratulations
to all our participants.

Greenwich
Falls to Maple Hill in Sectional Final(5/18/09)
BURNT HILLS -
Ethan Oswald picked up the lone win for
Greenwich as the Witches fell to Maple Hill,
6-1, in the Class C Final of the Section II
Tennis Tournament on Monday. Greenwich would
lose in the Sectional Final for the 3rd year in
a row. The Witches finish the season with a 9-3
record and look to bounce back next year behind
strong play from Ethan Oswald and Tyler Sheldon.

Greenwich will
play Maple Hill on Monday at 4:00 at Burnt Hills
High School.

Greenwich to Face Maple Hill for 3rd Straight

(5/14/09)
Greenwich - Greenwich will
face Maple Hill in the
Sectional Finals for the 3rd
straight year. Greenwich
lost the previous 2 meetings
each by a score of 3-4. The
Witches hope that the third
time will be the charm for
this match up.

Greenwich Defeats Corinth, Advances to Final
(5/13/09)
Greenwich - Greenwich
defeated Corinth easily on
Wednesday by a score of 6-1.
Greenwich only dropped 2
sets during the entire match
on Wednesday and look to
face the winner of Maple
Hill and Schoharie on
Thursday. Ethan Oswald
improved to 10-1 on the
season and Colton Towne
defeated Mickey Nolan 6-0,
6-0 to help the Witches win
the match.

Greenwich
to Face Corinth in Sectional Semi-Finals(5/12/09)
Corinth - Corinth defeated
Middleburg 6-1 on Tuesday
and advance to face
Greenwich in the Sectional
Semi-finals. Greenwich
defeated Corinth 5-2 in a
tough match earlier in the
season and look to win again
and head back to the
sectional finals for the 3rd
straight year.

Greenwich Earns the #2 Seed in Team Sectionals
(5/11/09)
Albany - The Greenwich
Witches earned the #2 seed
in the team sectionals and
looks to face the winner of
the Corinth/Middleburg
match. The Witches will host
the winner on Wednesday at
4:00. Ethan Oswald also has
earned the #8 seed in the
State Qualifiers on May
19th. Ethan is the first
Greenwich player to be
seeded in the state
qualifiers.

Corinth Doubles Team Defeats Greenwich Duo
(5/5/09)
Queensbury - The Corinth
doubles team of Tyler Pixley
and Nick Skinner defeated
Andrew Christy and Aaron
Schips in straight sets
(6-0, 6-2) in the Adirondack
League Doubles Finals. All
Semi-finalists will compete
in the State Qualifiers on
Tuesday May 19th in
Schenectady.

Oswald Wins Adirondack League Single Title
(5/4/09)

Warrensburg - Ethan Oswald
made quick work of Jon Lea
of Granville by a score of
10-1 as he headed into the
final against Granville's #1
singles player John Hicks.
Ethan defeated John during
the regular season 10-7 and
would defeat Hicks in
straight sets (6-3, 6-3) to
win the Adirondack Singles
Tournament. On his way to
the title, Ethan defeated
the #1, #2, and #3 singles
players from Granville.
Ethan is the first Greenwich
player to win the Singles
Tournament during the past
10 years and could be the
first one ever.

Warrensburg - On the day
that saw Ethan Oswald win
the singles tournament, the
doubles team of Andrew
Christy and Aaron Schips
look to do the same. Christy
and Schips will compete
today at the Queensbury
racquet club in the
Adirondack Doubles
Tournament Finals. In the
beginning rounds of the
Adirondack Doubles
Tournament Christy and
Schips defeated a team from
Lake George, Granville, and
Schuylerville to advance to
Thursday's Final.

Tournament starts today at
Echo Lake in Warrensburg.
Aaron Schips and Andrew
Christy earned the #2 seed
in the tournament and look

year in a row. Luke Cutie

tournament.

defeated by the #1 singles
player from Lake George (#4
seed).

Glens Falls - At the
Adirondack League seeding
meeting Thursday evening,
Ethan Oswald was awarded the
#1 seed in this years
Adirondack Singles
Tournament. Tyler Sheldon
was awarded the #7 seed. The
newly formed doubles team of
Andrew Christy and Aaron
Schips was awarded the #2
seed in the Adirondack
Doubles Tournament. Colton
Towne and Luke Cutie would
also receive a bye with the
8th seed. Josh Cohen-Peyton
and Luke Teft would also
look to challenge the
competition on next Tuesday.

Granville Defeats Greenwich 5-2 in Final Match
(4/29/09)
Granville - Greenwich could only muster 2 wins
in its final match of the regular season.
Greenwich would win at the #1 Singles and the #4
Singles positions. The Witches would lose 2
close matches at the #5 singles and the #1
Doubles both by a 10-8 score. Ethan Oswald would
win his 8th straight game and Colton Towne would

Greenwich - Greenwich breezed by Whitehall to
take a 7-0 win. Andrew Christy got his first win
at the singles position, winning 10-1. Ethan
Oswald, Tyler Sheldon, and Aaron Schips all won
to push their season record to 7-1. Andy Watters
and Kyle Kerega won for the second time this
season at the second doubles spot by a score of

Greenwich Defeats Corinth During a Heat Wave
(4/27/09)
Corinth -
Once again it was a doubles team for the Witches
that would give Greenwich the win. This time it
was Luke Cutie and Andrew Christy that would
dominate at 1st Doubles and defeat Corinth by a
10-2 score. The second doubles team would also
battle back from an early hole to win 10-6.
Ethan Oswald would win his 6th match in a row at

Greenwich Slips By Argyle 4-3, Wins 4th in a Row
(4/24/09)
GREENWICH -
Greenwich’s No. 2
doubles team of Zack Passino and Stephen Hayes
rallied from a 5-2 deficit to pull out a
hard-fought 11-9 victory to lift the Witches to
a 4-3 victory over Argyle. Jacob Houston and
Owen Percoco lost close matches during their
first singles play of the year. Ethan Oswald and
Tyler Sheldon won to improve to 5-1 and 6-0

SCHUYLERVILLE - In a match
that might determine the champion of the
Adirondack League this season, Schuylerville
battled back to defeat Greenwich. Greenwich took
3 of the first 4 individual matches of the day
as the number 1, 2 and 5 singles players notched
victories. Schuylerville came back by sweeping
the doubles matches to close it to 3-2.
Greenwich would have late leads in both of the
remaining matches only to see them slip away and
to see Schuylerville claim the match by a score

team of Luke Cutie and Jacob Houston won the
deciding match at No. 2 doubles to lift the
Witches to a victory over Lake George.

Look to be a Top Contender This Season
(3/26/09)
The Witches went
to the sectional finals last year for the 2nd
straight year and are looking to make it a 3rd.
This years tennis team has some new faces and
these new additions make this the deepest team
in the last 10 years. Last years Tennis team
only lost 3 players to graduation and return the
core of their team which went undefeated last
season and won their first league championship
in 20 years. Top returnees are Ethan Oswald,
Tyler Sheldon, Aaron Schips, Josh Cohen-Peyton,
and Andrew Christy. Key newcomers this season
are Colton Towne and Jordan James. Many other
strong players fill out the roster and make this
team once again a early pick for the top spot in
the league.

Congratulations to Our State Qualifier
Participants!
(5/21/08)
Congratulations
once again to our 2 doubles teams that competed
in the State qualifiers Tuesday at Central Park
in Schenectady. Pat Dimambro and Aaron Schips,
along with Andrew Christy and Taylor
Cohen-Peyton competed in the qualifiers on
Tuesday. The were the first doubles teams to
participate in the state qualifiers in the past
5 years for Greenwich.

Maple
Hill tops Greenwich 4-3 in Sectional Final!
(5/20/08)
Maple Hill came
out on top of hard fought match on Monday.
Besides battling each other in the Sectional
Final, the 2 teams had to battle 25-30 mph wind
gusts and cold temperatures. The Witches were
able to get wins at the #1 and #3 single
positions and at 1st Doubles. This was the Witches second loss
to Maple Hill in the Sectional Finals in back to
back years. Greenwich will look to rebuild next
year behind strong play of Ethan Oswald and
Tyler Sheldon, and will try to get back to the
finals once again.

Greenwich beat
Schoharie 5-2 on Thursday to advance to the
Sectional Finals on Monday, May 19th at 4:00 in
Burnt Hills. Greenwich will play Maple Hill in a
rematch of last years Sectional Finals.

Top Schoharie, Head Back to the Finals!
(5/16/08)
Greenwich defeated
Schoharie on Thursday by a score of 5-2. Ethan
Oswald, Ross Braymer, Tyler Sheldon, and the 1st
doubles team all won in straight sets. For more

Witches are 2-0 in Sectionals and improve to
12-0 on the year.
Greenwich will face the winner of the Lake
George-Maple Hill Winner on Monday in the
Sectional Finals.

Advances with Win Over Whitehall!

Greenwich rolled
past Whitehall in their opening round of
sectional play, beating them 7-0. Tyler
Sheldon, Aaron Schips, and Taylor Cohen-Peyton

Witches are 1-0 in Sectionals and improves to
11-0 on the year.
Greenwich will face Schoharie today at 3:30 at

Greenwich will
play host to Whitehall on Wednesday at 4:00.
The winner will advance to the semi-finals on
Thursday and face the winner of the
Corinth/Schoharie match.

Greenwich Wins 1st League Title Since 1989!
(5/13/08)
Greenwich defeated
Lake George on Monday 6-1 to go undefeated on
the year! That win gave Greenwich its first
league title in almost 20 years. The Greewich
doubles teams would split with Lake George early
in the match. Aaron Schips won easily (10-3) at
the #4 Singles position and Ethan Oswald
defeated Spencer Thibault (10-6) at the #1
Singles spot to give Greenwich a 3-1 lead in the
match. Ross Braymer would battle from behind and
defeat John Etu 11-9 to give Greenwich the Match
and the Title. Taylor Cohen-Peyton defeated Zack
Serlin (10-8) and Tyler Sheldon defeated Zack
Raymond (10-8) to finish the match for the
Witches. The Witches finish their season
10-0 and look to continue winning in sectionals
this week.
Week of May 5 - May 9
Greenwich
Tennis Eyeing League Title!
(5/7/08)
Greenwich is 9-0
on the season and looking for its first league
title since 1989. The Witches travel to Lake
George on Monday looking to try and knock off their last
opponent of the season. Lake George is 9-0 as
well.
Greenwich
Doubles Teams Advance to Sectionals!
(5/6/08)
The Greenwich
doubles team of Pat Dimambro/Aaron Schips and
the team of Andrew Christy/Taylor Cohen-Peyton
advance to the semi-finals of the league
Tournament. By advancing to the semi-finals,
they have qualified for Doubles Sections.
