Welcome to Regents Biology
Course Description
Welcome to Regents Living Environment, or as I prefer to call it, Biology. The basic problem this course addresses is how living things, including us humans, maintain "life." Maintaining life necessarily involves both internal processes and interactions with the outside world - both of which we will study in some detail this year.

Lab Requirement
This course requires successful completion of 1200 minutes of laboratory activities (about 30 complete labs). Students must show success through completed lab reports, which must be kept in students’ folders. Folders will remain in the classroom throughout the year and must remain in the school for 6 months after the examination. You must meet the lab requirement and maintain a record of that requirement in order to take the exam in June.

Regents Examination
Regents Living Environment is an examination-based course. You must pass a rigorous exam in June in order to receive Regent’s exam credit for this course. A passing score on at least one Regent’s exam in science is required for graduation. You should expect a lot of practice exam questions to give you an opportunity to become familiar with the types of questions found on the exam and provide strategies for answering them. The Regent’s exam in June will count as your final exam grade as well.
