School Counselor

The High School Counselor Can Help A Student:
          * Assess Strengths and Limitations;
          * Make thoughtful, informed decisions;
          * Develop Positive Attitudes;
          * Address Personal Issues (with family, peers, teachers, etc.);
          * Choose appropriate Courses;
          * Discover Talents and Abilities;
          * Find Further Assistance through a Referral;
          * Plan For Further Education;
          * Deal With a Crisis;
          * Seek Employment; and
          * Explore Career Choices.

Together the student and counselor can sort out issues, discuss goals and feelings, explore choices and make decisions. Counselors can also provide information and materials concerning classes, careers, colleges, vocational schools, teen issues and other topics. They also meet with teachers, parents and support service providers to help students achieve their potentials.

School Psychologist

The School Psychologist tailors services to the particular needs of each child and each situation. Many approaches may be used, including the following core services.


Consultation

 * Administer to problems with learning and behavior
 * Provide or Make Referral for Counseling


Assessment

 * Address Behavior, Learning, Social Skills, Eligibility for Special Education Services


Prevention

 * Identify Potential Learning Difficulties
 * Design Program for At-Risk Students


Intervention

 * Provide Counseling and Social Skills Training
 * Assist in Crisis Intervention
