Brittany Kirk - Class of 2003

Brittany was a National Honor Society member in her high school years and was a recipient of the Student Sage Award to attend Russell Sage College, in Troy. After two years, she transferred to Siena College and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing and Management.

Brittany has worked for Kraft Foods since 2006, when she started as a summer intern. In her senior year of college she “…managed to beg my school to let me spend my senior year abroad…in Dublin, Ireland….I had the time of my life.” Brittany was able to devote much of her time to traveling in Ireland and other European countries. “I learned a lot about other cultures …and also gained much more appreciation for the United States.”

After graduating from college, she took as job as a Sales Representative for Kraft with the goal of moving up in the company. In early 2009 she was promoted to a New England Market Trainer position and in late August of 2010 she was promoted again, this time to Logistics Supervisor in Glastonbury, Connecticut. The jump from sales to logistics was substantial and Brittany dedicated herself to the greater challenges and responsibilities. In her current position, she is managing twenty-seven stock handlers and drivers and is committed to facilitating teamwork. Another important aspect of her responsibilities is to manage a labor budget and insure that all of her employees are working hours within the allowable budget, as well as making sure that all the necessary work is completed in needed time frames. Brittany notes: “This is not always easy, but I have enjoyed all of my positions at Kraft and I’m especially looking forward to diving deeper into my current position. Kraft has given me the opportunity to grow and be successful in my career and I'm so glad that I have the opportunity to work for them. I love my job!”

Brittany has already earned accolades on the job, including the Manager's Award, for being a part of the New England Market Trainer Team accomplishing the highest results for a new technology in the country. She also earned the Manager's Award for helping to roll out a new technology to many of her New England sales forces

Brittany links some of her career success to her experiences at GCS. “I am very thankful to have been raised in Greenwich. I love that it is such a tight-knit community that stands together. GCS allowed me to make great friends that will have for the rest of my life. My teachers prepared me for my future, providing me the knowledge that I needed to succeed and my athletic teams taught me how to be a leader and show others how to succeed.”

In particular, Brittany remembers some significant GCS mentors. “I will always be thankful for Mr. Patrick's passion for teaching. He knew how to get our attention and make class interesting (curling contests and prank calls to other teachers may have helped- ha!). He was very dedicated and always made time if you needed extra help. He even took the time to teach me calculus for a second time when I had to take it again in college!”

"Miss Troy was a great mentor and coach. She believed in us (varsity softball team) and showed great passion for the            Kirk family members Paul, Dawn, Jared, Don Morehouse and Brittany at
game. Our trips to Virginia were
Blarney Castle, County Cork, Ireland                              some of the greatest I have ever
been on. It was a perfect bonding experience for the team. Leading is one of her strong points and I will never forget the unbelievable season we had that spring of 2003!” (Editors note: the 2003 Softball team won the Class C New York State Public High School Athletic Association Championship).

Softball was an important part of Brittany’s life in her high school days and in the in her two years at Russell Sage College. “I coached girls sixteen and under little league softball for two years and it was an awesome experience. If my career allows it I'd love to get back into it. I have also been a ski instructor at Willard Mountain and there is no better mountain to learn to ski! The owners (“Chic” and Chris Wilson) are wonderful people and they have collected a great and talented staff over the years.”

Brittany saves her biggest thanks for those most special to her. “I’m so grateful for the help and support my family has given me along the way.”

In her eight years since high school, Brittany has attended college, earned a degree, travelled and has risen in her career. She is also very well-remembered at GCS for her contributions to academics, athletics and the school culture at large. Brittany is the daughter of Dawn and Paul Kirk, of Greenwich and has one sibling, Jared Kirk (GCS ’09).
