Business Law Course Description:

 

From the study of Business Law, students should gain a genuine respect for and understanding of that segment of law that affects them in personal and business applications. It deals specifically with contracts and the principle of law applicable to them. The curriculum deals with the broad basis of law within the context of American Government.  Students will participate in case studies, projects, and participate in mock trials. Credit for this course may be used to meet sequence requirements of Business Education and/or the 5th unit of Social Studies.

New York State Office of Attorney General - has dozens of operational units covering issues ranging from criminal law enforcement to consumer protection to civil rights.

Law.com - An interesting law site that gives you an opportunity to register for law updates by e-mail. Gives important legal happenings in New York, California, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey as well as information about different types of law, decisions of the day and other legal news.

Court TVCourt TV provides news on current law related events, up-to-date case files, Professor Arthur Miller's Court Room Challenge, law links to Congress, a law library which includes transcripts of current trials, documents from ongoing litigation, and provides link to Teen Court TV.

Consumer Law Page - this site lists articles on various topics of interest to consumers and lists of information and Internet resources. Topics include product liability, class action suits, a legal first aid primer, personal injury information .

Anatomy of a Murder, A Trip through our Nation's Legal System - Puts you in the middle of a criminal murder trial. Includes overview of US Court System and a summary of fourth, fifth, sixth and eighth amendments which establish Constitutional rights applicable to trials. Has 12 chapters which cover criminal arrest, indictment, etc. Fact Sheets provide supporting evidence such as chain of command in a police agency, finger printing procedures, etc. It has a glossary of legal terms, summaries of landmark cases and actual documents completed in the course of an arrest.
